2ND /3RD GRADE NEWS
RIVERGATE ADVENTIST ELEMENTARY
May 18, 2012
Dear Parents,
There are only three weeks left in the school year! This has been a busy week! We completed our Map work section in
Social Studies and started working on Simple Machines. We have also been working hard to be ready for the Spring Concert.
Homework for next week will beMemory Verse and
spelling list 34. The memory verse and spelling tests will both be on Thursday next week because there is no school on Friday, May 25. The memory verse is Jeremiah 29:13& Matthew 19:26.“You will search for me. And when you search for me with all your heart, you
will find me!” “This is something that men cannot do. But God can do all things.”You will also find a pack of graded work in the Friday Folder, for students to do re-do work. I will be sending graded work home again next week Thursday. All re-do work needs to be handed in no later than Friday morning, June 1.
We will be focusing on the LIFESKILL of Common Sense next week.We will be learning the importance of using good judgment in all areas of our lives. We will look at various choices and consequences, and the importance of thinking things through before rushing into something that may cause trouble or stress for us later.
The Spring Concert is next week Tuesday, May 23 at 7 p.m. Our class has been learning how to play the Ukulele for a few months now. Some students learned last year and have advanced with their playing. As the Spring Concert has drawn closer, Mrs. Custer has tried to come in every day, and we have been practicing diligently to be ready for the Concert. Mrs. Walch has also been helping our class each week with the ukulele lessons and we have really appreciated her time and help! I think you will be very proud of the wonderful progress the class has made! For the Spring Concert, our class is involved in 1 class song, 2 ukulele songs, and two songs with the whole school choir. As a result, I would like to ask that you please come prepared to stay for the whole concert, as every child’s voice and participation is needed. The concert is about 1 hour long. Students must be at the school by 6:40 p.m. sharp, so they can tune their ukuleles. Students must dress smartly in their best jeans and a polo shirt of any color they choose.
Thank you for your continued help and support at home. Have a blessed weekend!
Sincerely,
Ms. Smith
